Services
Services at St James Garlickhythe use the 1662 Book of Common Prayer, making us one of the few churches in London offering this form traditional Anglican worship throughout the week. A service booklet is always available.
Schedule of Services
Sundays

A quiet and contemplative service of Morning Prayer from the Book of Common Prayer with readings from the Authorised King James Version of the Bible. A goodly way to start the Lord’s Day.
This service is not live streamed.

This is the main parish act of worship, according to the Book of Common Prayer and incorporating Choral Music, Hymns, and a Sermon, and usually lasts an hour. We remain afterwards for refreshments and fellowship.
This service is usually live streamed.

Services are also celebrated during the week, and usually last no more than 25 minutes. Due to the large number of Livery Services that are held at St James, times can sometimes change, so please see the notice board, service list below, and social media channels for any alterations.

St James isn’t a monument: it’s a worshipping community of disciples of Jesus Christ, seeking to witness to God’s love for all people.
St James is proud of the fact that, other than at times when the church has had to be closed or the Prayer Book suppressed, it is the Book of Common Prayer liturgy that has been faithfully celebrated at St James, Sunday by Sunday, year by year.
Our worship is marked by the beauty and noble simplicity of the western tradition, and our choirs dignify our liturgy with the very finest music from the English choral tradition.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation of a Penitent is by appointment with Fr Anthony.
