The St James Clock Statue

The sharp eyed will notice that the figure of St James is no longer sitting on top of the turret clock - instead he is residing in the Narthex. This is because due to water ingress the statue had become damaged and parts of it were in danger of falling off. It was agreed that the best option was to replace this statue with a new one. Unfortunately, that has proved to be a slow process, but progress is now being made. We are planning to model the replacement statue on the one that which would have originally have been in-situ when the clock was first installed in the 1680s,.and which can be glimpsed on old prints. He will be taller and slimmer than the 1980s figure we have recently removed. We will keep you posted on progress.
