It is with great sadness that we received the news of the death of one of our churchwardens, Geoffrey Brown.Geoffrey was a stalwart member of St James and a fierce defender of its traditions. He will be sadly missed.His funeral will be at 1045 on October 5th at the Breakspear Crematorium. From October, St James takes over liturgical responsibility for the church of St Michael Paternoster Royal. In addition to have responsibility for the livery companies and organisations that have traditionally used SMPR, it is also an opportunity for outreach the people at that end of the parish.This means that the Eucharist will be celebrated twice a week at SMPR: on Mondays and Wednesdays. After the August break, life at St James gets back to normal on September 2nd. Our Sung Eucharist for Trinity 14 begins at 1030 and will feature the premiership of a new Mass for St James, composed by Andrew Campling. There is also music from Rutter and Bainton. Please join us!

As is the long custom at St James, the church will be closed throughout August. Our services resume on Sunday, September 2nd, the 14th Sunday after Trinity. Fr Tim is on holiday but in the parish from 19/8 to 1/9.Happy holidays

It's a great privilege for St James to host two livery services this week. The Joiners and Ceilers are with on Tuesday evening, and the Weavers are here on Wednesday morning. We give thanks to God for their work and of all the livery companies associated with St James.
