The Church

If you want to celebrate an important event in your life why not invite your colleagues or neighbours to join you at this beautiful and historic parish church.

To arrange any of the above, or the following services, or to discuss other aspects, please telephone the St James Administrator on: 020 73293632 or speak with the Rector at a regular Church service.

The full range of services offered cover: Baptisms, Christenings, Confirmations, Blessings, Weddings, Funerals, Memorial, Carol and Livery Services.

Those who are members of the Church of England, who are resident in or whose place of work is within the Parish, or who have habitually attended public worship elsewhere, are invited to apply for enrolment on the Electoral Roll of the parish of St James Garlickhythe. Enrolled members are kept in touch with church events and receive the regular church newsletter ‘River Views and News’.

If you live or work nearby, or are visitors or tourists, and wish to share your joy in times of happiness or to unburden your grief in times of adversity; to give thanks to God for blessings received or to ask for guidance on the path of life; we offer Saint James Garlickhythe as a place of meditation and sanctuary.

Saint James is where the young are baptised, couples are wed and the dear departed are prayed for.

Nature of Worship All services at St James are conducted according to the Book of Common Prayer (1662) and the Authorised Version of the Bible, often known as the King James Version. All readings and collects are taken from the lectionary and tables in the Book of Common Prayer.

In line with our traditional stance, the Parish passed resolutions A and B.

Whilst our stance is traditional, we are an open Christian community with a wide range of personalities and eager to draw others into our fellowship.

We warmly welcome all who feel able to worship with us on Sundays, weekdays and on special occasions.
